Sale conditions of wood are specified by the regulation of Director – General of the Sate Forests.
Within the framework of the individual sale , the foresters try to meet the fast growing demand, because more and more people use wood in order to heat their houses. Contrary to general opinion, these are not only village people, even though they prevail among recipients. The growth of firewood demand is the result of occurrence of new housing estates built in the suburbs of large agglomerations, where houses are usually equipped in fireplace heating installations.
Firewood is not only the most ecological heat source, but also is much more attractive in respect of relation of price and electric efficiency, rather than cola, oil, gas or electric power.
In recent years, the Sate Forests increased the sale of firewood of one third – up to over 4 million cubic meters annually. Some of customers choose already prepared and cut into pieces wood, the others very willingly obtain it by themselves after arranging all details and fulfilling particular safety conditions, and after paying the fee; that concerns mainly so called "thinnings". Such a raw material is very cheap, that is why many people from village areas profit from such possibility.

W pierwszej połowie 2024 roku NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) - Dowództwo Połączonych Sił Sojuszniczych
w Europie organizuje na starym kontynencie największe od kilkudziesięciu lat ćwiczenie wojskowe pk. STEADFAST DEFENDER 2024 (STDE24) będące federacją kilkunastu ćwiczeń narodowych (sojuszniczych), w tym polskiego ćwiczenia pk. DRAGON-24.
Ćwiczenie taktyczne z wojskami pk. DRAGON-24 jest ćwiczeniem narodowym, wieloszczeblowym, wielodomenowym z udziałem sił międzynarodowych, prowadzonym na terytorium Polski (na poligonach i w terenie przygodnym) w terminie od 25 lutego do 14 marca 2024 r. Jego głównym celem będzie doskonalenie zdolności do reagowania na zagrożenia militarne
i niemilitarne podczas kryzysu i otwartego konfliktu zbrojnego. W ćwiczeniu weźmie udział ok. 20 tys. żołnierzy (w tym ok. 5 tys. żołnierzy z państw sojuszniczych) oraz ponad 3,5 tys. jednostek sprzętu wojskowego. Biorąc pod uwagę skalę zaangażowanych sił i środków, scenariusz zagrożeń i planowane do realizacji epizody taktyczne będzie to w ocenie SHAPE największe i najważniejsze ćwiczenie w ramach STDE24. Scenariusz ćwiczenia zakłada realizację większości zadań w ścisłym współdziałaniu z elementami pozamilitarnych struktur obronnych państwa. Kluczowym przedsięwzięciem w czasie ćwiczenia DRAGON-24 będzie przeprowadzenie taktycznego marszu drogowego (tzw. marszu dofrontowego)
po drogach i w terenie przygodnym.
